ParentSquare pulls data directly from the district’s Student Information System, ProgressBook. Students and parents are automatically “opted in” to receive notifications from the school, classes they are enrolled in, and any extracurricular activities they may be a part of. That means when a student is enrolled in a class, they will appear in that respective teacher’s ParentSquare roster within 24 hours of being added in ProgressBook. The same applies for students who are unenrolled at any point during the school year.
While it is strongly recommended that parents download the ParentSquare app so that they can control their notification settings and better engage with content, it is not required for teachers and staff to be able to communicate with families. We also recommend students in grades 7-12 download the StudentSquare app to engage with content shared by teachers and staff.
